The role will engage and work with existing organisational structures and stakeholders.Reporting directly to our Group Chief Nursing Officer & Chief Operating Officer the role will have direct management of a team of 8 and strategic direction setting for the whole of the Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacy Assistants population across the UK. This group totals around 195 staff.Key ResponsibilitiesTo produce a vision for Spire’s pharmacy services for the next 3-5 yearsTo provide a comprehensive and impartial understanding of the delivery and cost effectiveness of pharmacy servicesTo maintain and strengthen governance arrangements to ensure safe and effective delivery of pharmacy servicesTo develop a pharmacy workforce with the right skills, knowledge and experience ensuring an appropriate level of resourcing and skill mix to support the service now and into the futureTo make recommendations around the pharmacy service structureTo work towards implementing a clear strategy for recruitment and retention of pharmacy employees which outlines a pathway for career progression in line with the organisation’s overarching deliverablesTo ensure that there is appropriate delegation of responsibility and clear lines of accountability for pharmacy services across the organisationTo identify areas of best practice and to develop these further across the groupTo review the organisations medicines management strategy to ensure that it is compliant with regulatory standards pertaining to the administration, prescribing and safe and secure handling of medicinesTo ensure that appropriate systems and process are in place to ensure that the risks in the use of medicines are minimisedTo review existing governance arrangements for medicines related activities, to include, for example, an audit cycle of key activities such as management of controlled drugs and temperature monitoringTo ensure that prescribing mechanisms for medicines, to include the use of Patient Group Directions and non-medical prescribing, are in accordance with regulatory and good practice guidanceTo review medicines procurement and supply chain activities to ensure cost efficient use of medicinesQualifications & ExperienceDeep expertise in the running of large scale Pharmacy services, either in the NHS or commercial Healthcare organisationsYou must be a qualified Pharmacist to be considered for the roleAbility to produce long term strategic roadmapsStrong interpersonal and influencing abilities across all levelsExceptional judgment and decision-makingStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and trendsBenefitsWe offer employed colleagues a competitive salary as well as a comprehensive benefits package which includes but is not limited to:35 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidaysEmployer and employee contributory pension with flexible retirement options‘Spire for you’ reward platform - discount and cashback for over 1000 retailersFree wellness screeningPrivate medical insuranceLife assuranceSpire Healthcare is committed to creating an environment that will attract, retain and motivate its people.
