Head of Development | London, UK

We are seeking an experienced Head of Development for a financial services client based in London to lead their geographically dispersed development and test teams. Utilising Agile and DevOps methodologies, this role requires a strong technical background, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for collaborating with business stakeholders to deliver impactful technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership:Manage and inspire the development and test teams, fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, and alignment with organisational values.
- People Management:Set objectives, provide mentoring, and support career development for team members.
- Partner Management:Oversee strategic partnerships with outsourced resource augmentation vendors to drive innovation and cost efficiency.
- Portfolio Delivery:Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and deliver solutions aligned with business strategy, ensuring effective prioritisation and interdependency management.
- Development Practices:Select and implement best-practice delivery approaches (Agile or Waterfall) while ensuring compliance with IT policies.
- Solution Design:Guide the specification and design of applications, leveraging external expertise where needed.
- Continuous Improvement:Drive the adoption of new tools, methods, and processes to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven career progression from developer to development management.
- Deep knowledge of application architectures and the Azure Full Stack (including Power Platform).
- Experience leading geographically dispersed teams, including permanent, contract, and outsourced staff.
- Strong track record of building partnerships with business stakeholders to solve problems through technology.
- Expertise in cloud-native environments and Agile/DevOps practices.
- Demonstrated ability to evolve team culture in line with organisational transformation.
- Agile methodology certifications.
- Degree in IT, computer science, or a related field.
- Background in Private Markets, Asset Management, or Financial Services.
