Our client is a well-established Building Services contractor delivering complex projects across England. Due to continued growth and the award of several major schemes with significant electrical scope, the business is seeking to appoint an experienced Head of Electrical Engineering.

This senior leadership position will provide technical authority, strategic direction, and oversight of the delivery of electrical systems across a portfolio of large and technically demanding construction projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior professional to influence the technical direction of a respected contractor while shaping the development, standards, and processes of the electrical engineering function. The role offers significant autonomy and the chance to contribute to some of the UK’s most challenging and prestigious engineering projects.

The Role

The Head of Electrical Engineering will provide strategic and technical leadership to the electrical engineering team, ensuring that design and installation standards remain at the forefront of industry best practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing technical leadership and acting as the final point of approval for electrical designs, ensuring full compliance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and relevant CIBSE and BSRIA guidance.
• Overseeing the integration of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting control, fire detection, and security systems, within complex building environments.
• Managing departmental resources, establishing engineering standards, and ensuring electrical packages are delivered safely, on programme, and within budget.
• Working closely with project directors, design teams, and clients to support the successful delivery of major projects.
• Driving continuous improvement in technical standards, processes, and innovation within the electrical engineering function.

The Person

• This opportunity would suit a senior electrical engineering leader who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to manage teams and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Candidates may currently be operating as a Head of Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Manager, or a senior technical lead seeking to step into a broader leadership role.
• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of UK Building Regulations, including Part P and Part L, and the Electricity at Work Regulations.
• A proven track record of leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing technical teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
