Job Description
Head of Engineering
Build the Technology Layer That Will Redefine a New Era of Autonomous Flight
We are building the next of low-altitude aviation infrastructure; aircraft, software, autonomy systems, and operational frameworks that make large-scale autonomous flight a dependable part of infrastructure.
Our engineering team is exceptional: fast, ambitious, technically outstanding. The pace is high, expectations are higher, and the work is real-world, not theoretical. As we scale aggressively over the next 2–3 years, we are now hiring a Head of Engineering who can bring structure, vision, and the experience required to guide a world-class team through rapid growth.
This is a pivotal role for a company on a trajectory toward unicorn status within the next few years.
If you’re looking for a place to build something that truly matters, this is it.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a leader who has been through scale and understands how to build high-performance engineering organisations without slowing innovation.
You should bring:
✔ Experience leading and growing technical teams
You’ve run engineering groups through meaningful scale, setting the bar on mindset, execution, and technical excellence.
✔ Deep technical credibility
You should excel in at least one core domain (robotics, autonomy, embedded systems, hardware, battery systems, geospatial, agentic AI, etc.) while being able to understand and integrate the whole stack.
This team follows leaders who know what great looks like.
✔ A high-pace, high-ownership mentality
We move quickly.
We ship fast.
We set ambitious goals.
We expect leaders who thrive in this environment — not survive it.
✔ Ability to bring structure without bureaucracy
You’ll shape the operating rhythms, build scalable processes, and help the organisation anticipate blind spots — all while preserving speed.
✔ Experience in high-growth, high-complexity environments
This isn’t a role for someone who’s only seen large corporate engineering or slow-moving aerospace programs. We want someone who’s been close to the build: a hands-on leader with breadth, depth, and curiosity.
What You’ll Own
Lead and scale a growing engineering organisation (10–12 engineers today; 30+ in coming years) Set engineering strategy across hardware, embedded systems, autonomy, robotics, and software Mentor and elevate proven technical leaders Create and implement the structures, processes, and operating rhythms required for scale Drive cross-functional decision-making across aircraft, autonomy, and systems engineering Represent engineering at the highest level as we scale to a global footprint Ensure we maintain — and raise — our standard of quality, speed, and ambition
Location
UK/Ireland are hubs
We’re open across Europe for the right person, but proximity and willingness to travel to our engineering hubs matters.
Compensation & Ownership
Competitive salary + significant equity.
We want leaders who think like owners and we align incentives accordingly.
Who Thrives Here
Senior engineering leaders from high-growth robotics, autonomy, aerospace, or deep-tech companies Builders who’ve taken something from early stage → scaled product Technically strong leaders who command respect through expertise and clarity People who want to prove something — and want the stage to do it Leaders who want to grow into a CTO role as the company scales
