Role Summary: Head of Event Strategy & Learning

As TEMBO's Head of Event Strategy & Learning, you will lead a strategically important and fast-developing area of the business. You will be responsible for defining our consultancy and training offer, engaging senior stakeholders, and delivering meaningful, commercial solutions that help our clients grow.

This role blends business development, consulting, programme design and delivery. You will scope strategic projects, write compelling proposals, and lead delivery-either yourself or via our growing network of trainers and consultants. You will also shape our portfolio of training products and consultancy frameworks, ensuring they are scalable, impactful, and aligned to market needs.

Working closely with the CEO, you will contribute to TEMBO's strategic vision, build strong client relationships, and help embed best practices across the business. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will support TEMBO's growth ambitions, uphold our values, and lead with credibility and warmth.

Team Structure

As part of the Senior Management Team, the Head of Event Strategy & Learning reports to the CEO and works closely with the Office Manager (admin support), Financial Controller (budgeting & finance oversight), and the Business Development Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Growth

Lead strategic conversations with senior leaders across event organisers and media businesses

Scope and write compelling proposals for training and consultancy projects

Proactively identify and convert new business opportunities across TEMBO's network

Represent TEMBO at industry events and in external communications (e.g., LinkedIn)

Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and prospects

Collaborate with the business development team to shape and close opportunities

Service Delivery

Deliver a mix of consulting and training projects personally

Oversee delivery by trusted freelance partners (trainers, facilitators, strategists)

Design and facilitate workshops, planning sessions and capability reviews

Ensure client outcomes are met through structured delivery, reporting and follow-up

Create and manage project plans, budgets and resource allocation

Product & IP Development

Build out scalable training offers (in-house, open courses, online learning)

Develop consultancy frameworks and diagnostic tools

Create support materials and delivery templates to ensure consistency and quality

Continuously gather feedback to refine service offerings

Expectations

Have Industry Expertise: Proven experience in consulting, training or leadership within the events industry

Be Commercial: Able to articulate value, price services, and drive revenue and margin

Be Credible & Personable: Confident with senior stakeholders, warm with clients and teams

Be Organised & Strategic: Skilled at balancing delivery with business development and service design

Be Collaborative: Works well across teams and leads with clarity and generosity

Qualifications

Proven experience in consultancy and/or training leadership

Strong track record in business development and proposal writing

Experience working with senior-level stakeholders (e.g., C-suite)

Confident facilitator with excellent communication and presentation skills

Understanding of the events and media landscape preferred
