Head of Finance | Series B Marketplace Scale-Up

£80,000–£90,000 + bonus

We’re partnering with a high-growth Series B marketplace business to hire a Head of Finance. This is a broad and high-impact role for an experienced finance leader who wants to take real ownership of a function in a scaling business.

The company has delivered strong year on year growth since 2023 and has ambitious plans to double revenue by the end of 2027. Finance is central to that journey, and this role will work directly with an impressive CFO while gaining regular exposure to the founders.

The opportunity

As the business continues to scale, both organically and through potential acquisitions, you will play a key role in building a robust, commercial and scalable finance function. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys operating in a fast-paced environment and wants to combine hands-on financial control with strategic involvement.

Key responsibilities

• Own the finance operations, reporting and accounting function
• Deliver accurate reporting to leadership, investors and relevant authorities
• Partner with stakeholders across the business to support decision-making
• Develop and improve commercial and financial models
• Lead the audit process with external advisors
• Drive improvements across finance processes, controls and systems
• Support fundraising activity and broader strategic projects
• Manage banking relationships and payment processes across multiple jurisdictions
• Oversee VAT returns and outsourced tax compliance
• Over time, build and manage a high-performing finance team
• Recommend and implement better tools, processes and ways of working as the business scales

About you

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
• Previous experience in a finance leadership role
• Experience in a marketplace business is essential
• Strong Excel and PowerPoint / Google Sheets skills
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced start-up or scale-up environment
• Strong attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
• Able to build credibility across the business and influence senior stakeholders
• Experience with Xero would be beneficial
• Confident hiring, developing and leading teams
