Head of Financial Operations/ Financial Controller

on a 3-6 month contract basis.

Liverpool , this is a senior leadership opportunity within a complex group environment, offering the chance to play a pivotal role in strategic financial management, governance and transformation. This opportunity is ideal for a qualified finance leader with significant post-qualification experience, particularly within large, regulated or group structures, who is looking to operate as a strategic partner to executive stakeholders.

Salary/benefits: £65,000 - £75,000 3-6 month contract (day rate or Fixed term options available)

Financial Controller Job Duties: Lead the group financial accounting function, holding full responsibility for statutory reporting, year-end financial statements, financial control and compliance across the group and its subsidiary entities. Provide strategic financial guidance and support to the Executive team, contributing to organisational change management and business transformation initiatives. Oversee taxation, treasury, investment management, capital and foreign exchange management, ensuring optimisation of financial position while minimising risk. Act as an active and collaborative member of the Finance Leadership Team, contributing to departmental and organisational strategy. Develop, manage and report on departmental KPIs, ensuring delivery of agreed actions within prescribed timelines. Oversee statutory financial and fiscal reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Provide assurance on the effectiveness of financial controls, reporting processes and risk management frameworks. Manage the annual external audit process and support relevant internal audit activity. Oversee transaction processing functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger. Ensure accurate intercompany accounting, consolidated balance sheet reconciliations and capital & fixed asset reporting. Develop and maintain group-wide financial regulations, procedures and financial risk registers. Who will I report in to? Finance Director

Ideal experience Fully qualified accountant and member of a recognised professional body (e.g. ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), with significant post-qualification experience in a Financial Controller role Proven experience leading finance teams with a strong business partnering ethos in complex organisations. Significant experience in statutory reporting, group consolidation, audit and compliance within regulated environments. Strong knowledge of taxation (including income tax, corporate tax and VAT), treasury and foreign currency management. Experience managing complex international group structures and working with overseas partners. Highly developed operational knowledge of financial management systems and control environments. Outstanding IT skills, particularly advanced Excel capability and strong Microsoft Office proficiency. An engaging, collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence, drive change and deliver improvement. Excellent communication skills, able to engage and advise senior stakeholders effectively.
