DVF Recruitment are supporting a leading specialty insurance business in the London market as they look to appoint a Head of Financial Risk, based in London on a 12 month FTC. Paying up to £143,000 per annum + bonus + benefits

This role will play a key leadership position across the business, overseeing the identification, assessment and management of financial risks including insurance, capital, market, climate, credit and liquidity risk.

You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across Risk and the wider business, helping to shape strong risk practices and support strategic decision-making in a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and embedding of the Financial Risk framework in line with enterprise risk management and regulatory expectations.
• Oversee monitoring and reporting of financial risk exposures and controls to senior management, committees and Boards.
• Provide effective risk advice, challenge and support across strategic initiatives, change programmes and new products.
• Lead the independent validation and review of the Solvency II Internal Model, ensuring compliance with regulatory and Lloyd’s requirements.
• Present a holistic view of financial risk to governance forums, including Risk Committees and Boards.

Key Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in capital modelling and/or internal model validation.
• Extensive background in general insurance, ideally within the Lloyd’s or London Market.
• In-depth knowledge of Solvency II and UK regulatory requirements.
• Confident communicator with the ability to challenge senior stakeholders constructively.
• Proven experience producing high-quality reports and presentations for executive and Board-level audiences.
• Quantitative degree; qualified actuary (or equivalent) preferred.
