We are recruiting on behalf of a leading organisation in the UK energy sector for a permanent Head of IT. This is a critical leadership role, responsible for shaping and delivering the client’s technology strategy during a period of significant transformation and growth.

Our client is a well-established and respected business within the UK energy market. They are known for their commitment to innovation, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. As part of their ongoing investment in digital infrastructure and enterprise transformation, they are looking to appoint a proven IT leader with direct experience in the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of a long-term IT strategy aligned with business and industry objectives.

• Oversee all areas of technology including infrastructure, architecture, applications, data, and cybersecurity.

• Drive the successful delivery of complex IT and digital transformation programmes.

• Provide leadership and direction to a multi-disciplinary IT team, fostering a culture of high performance and innovation.

• Act as the senior point of contact for all technology-related matters across the organisation.

• Engage with internal and external stakeholders including regulatory bodies, industry partners, and service providers.

• Ensure IT governance, risk management, and compliance with sector-specific regulations such as Ofgem requirements and market-wide half-hourly settlement (MHHS).
  

Candidate Requirements – Please Read Carefully

Only candidates who meetallof the following criteria will be considered for this position:

• You must have held a senior IT leadership role at Head of IT, CIO, or Senior Programme Director level.

• You must have direct and recent experience within the UK energy sector (including electricity, gas, renewables, or energy services).

• Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver enterprise-scale IT transformation programmes.

• Strong knowledge of energy market operations, systems, and regulatory frameworks.

• Proven track record of managing large budgets, complex programmes, and high-performing teams.

• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, including at board and regulatory levels.
