Job Description

We're recruiting a head of strategy for a client in the hospitality / leisure / travel sector based in Essex (2 or 3 days onsite).


As Head of Strategy, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the company's strategic direction. You will play a critical role in shaping their future growth and success by identifying market opportunities, developing innovative strategies, and ensuring effective execution across all areas of the business. This is a high-impact role with significant influence on the company's overall performance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategic plans aligned with the company's vision and objectives, focusing on growth, market positioning, and competitive advantage.
  • Market Analysis:
  • Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential threats, using data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions.
  • Opportunity Identification:
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, including potential acquisitions, partnerships, and product/service innovations, within the leisure sector.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with various departments (e.g., marketing, sales, operations, finance) to ensure alignment and effective implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Performance Monitoring:
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and track progress against strategic goals, providing regular reports and recommendations to senior management.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor a team of strategic thinkers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Innovation and Problem-Solving:
  • Drive a culture of innovation and proactive problem-solving, developing creative solutions to complex business challenges.
  • Qualifications and Experience:

    • Proven experience in a senior strategy role, preferably within the leisure, hospitality, or related industry.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and develop actionable insights.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex strategies to diverse audiences.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.
    • Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans, including market analysis, opportunity identification, and performance monitoring.
    • Knowledge of the leisure / travel industry landscape, including key trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging technologies.
    • Experience with financial modeling and business case development
