HGV Mechanic (Full time)

*Overview* We are seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), including lorries and Trailers. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise a broad range of mechanical and electrical skills within a dynamic environment. Candidates should possess strong technical knowledge, practical experience with hand and power tools, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.

*Responsibilities*

* Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs and Trailers * Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment and experience * Perform repairs involving fabrication, welding, soldering, and mechanical assembly * Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively for repairs and modifications * Repair or replace components such as brakes, engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems * Maintain accurate records of all work carried out * Assist with equipment modifications or upgrades as required * Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations * Support the team in heavy lifting tasks using appropriate equipment * Driving vehicles to Brake tests, MOTS, Road Tests and other as required

*Experience*

* Proven experience in heavy vehicle or plant machinery repair (minimum 3 years preferred) * Class 1 licence essential * Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, and mechanical assembly * Knowledge of hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, and chassis repairs * Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment for vehicle maintenance * Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics accurately * Excellent customer service skills when liaising with clients or operators * Physically capable of performing heavy lifting tasks safely and efficiently * Some electrical experience preferred
