Prospero Teaching are seeking a skilled, compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our client specialist SEN school in Poole!
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and who thrives in a warm, relationship‑centred school community.

About the Role
As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting pupils, teachers, and the wider school community. Working under the guidance of qualified teachers, you will also have opportunities to lead whole‑class learning when required.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver learning activities to individuals, small groups, or whole classes Support the implementation and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress Help create a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment Provide guidance to colleagues in your areas of expertise Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, sensory needs, and independence Supervise pupils during trips, enrichment activities, and off‑site learning Build trusting, stable relationships using calm, consistent communication
About You
The ideal candidate:
holds NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants (or equivalent experience) has experience supporting children with SEND communicates clearly and confidently, adapting language to individual needs can work independently and take whole‑class responsibility when needed demonstrates patience, emotional intelligence, and a nurturing approach builds positive relationships with pupils, families, colleagues, and external professionals maintains professionalism, confidentiality, and high standards of care
