Interim Highways Inspector
Southeast of England Based
£250 per day inside IR35
3-month contract (Likely Extension)
Onsite - 5 days per week Monday to Friday
Panoramic Associates is currently working with a Local Authority client to facilitate the appointment of an experienced Interim Highways Inspector to support the delivery and inspection of highways works, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance across the network.
Responsibilities of the Role:
Inspect highways works on-site (carriageway, footway, kerbing, drainage, minor civils) to ensure quality and specification compliance.
Monitor contractor performance, progress, and workmanship; identify defects and drive corrective actions.
Ensure works comply with relevant standards, health & safety requirements, and local authority procedures.
Record site inspections, produce clear reports/notes, and maintain accurate records (photos, snagging, completion signoffs).
Liaise with contractors, supervisors, residents, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and keep works moving.
Support completion processes, including snagging, re-inspections, and handover documentation.
To be successful in the role you will have:
Experience working within a Local Authority (or public sector highways) setting.
Strong background inspecting highways / streetworks / civil works and managing quality on-site.
Confident stakeholder management skills, including dealing with contractors and public enquiries.
Good working knowledge of highways health & safety and inspection best practice.
