Import Customs Manager

Location: Colnbrook, Slough

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00

Our client, a well established international logistics and transport provider is seeking a skilled and experienced Import Customs Manager to join their team. This role is pivotal in ensuring efficient, compliant, and timely clearance of inbound international shipments while leading a dedicated imports team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and develop the import & cargo customs team, managing appraisals, leave, and performance.
• Oversee and process customs clearance entries (CDS) for courier and cargo shipments at multiple UK airports.
• Manage HMRC compliance, ensuring all Duty and Tax payments are processed accurately and reconciled.
• Act as the main point of contact for customs-related queries from customers, authorities, and internal teams.
• Ensure effective classification, valuation, and origin declarations for goods.
• Maintain and improve processes to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
• Keep up to date with changes in customs legislation, tariffs, and procedures.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Proven management and leadership experience.
• Strong background in courier imports, customs clearance, and ETSF procedures.
• Proficient in Descartes (e-customs), ASM (Sequoia), CDS, and CNS systems.
• Experience in low-value bulk clearance (BIRDS).
• Highly organised, detail-oriented, and results-driven.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable:

• Experience in export customs clearance.
• Knowledge of MOU & AEO processes.
