Interim Financial Controller | Very Hybrid/Quasi Remote | North Manchester Offices | 6 month FTC An SME charity is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to support the organisation during a key period of financial oversight, reporting and planning. This is a hands-on senior finance role, ideal for an interim who can quickly take ownership of financial control, statutory reporting and team leadership within a charity environment. The Role Reporting to the senior leadership team, you will have full responsibility for the finance function across both the charity and its trading subsidiary. Key responsibilities include: Production of monthly management accounts and Statutory Annual Accounts in line with Charity SORP (FRS102) and trading entity requirements Leading the year-end process and liaising with external auditors Preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, including scenario planning around membership levels and staffing Working closely with budget holders to support forecasting and budget setting Full responsibility for cashflow management across charity and trading bank accounts Management of service level agreements relating to debt management and accounts payable Submission of HMRC VAT returns and related sector-specific returns Leadership, development and motivation of a finance team of three, including appraisals and personal development plans Ensuring accurate and timely processing of creditor and debtor invoices Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register About You You will be a confident interim who is comfortable operating in a small-to-medium charity environment. You will bring: Full accountancy qualification (CCAB or equivalent) Strong experience within the charity or not-for-profit sector In-depth knowledge of Charity SORP (FRS102) Proven experience producing statutory accounts and managing audits Solid VAT experience Strong people management and team leadership skills A hands-on, pragmatic approach with the ability to deliver to deadlines Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with non-finance stakeholders
