We are partnering with a Midlands-based private equity-backed business (£70m turnover) who are looking for an Interim Group Financial Controller for a 4–6 month assignment. This role will play a critical part in supporting the finance function through a period of technical accounting focus and strategic activity.


The Role

Working closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders, you will take ownership of complex technical accounting matters, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and robust financial reporting across the group. This is a hands-on role requiring both strong technical expertise and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on technical accounting matters, including group consolidations and complex transactions
  • Review and enhance accounting policies in line with current standards
  • Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors
  • Provide guidance on legal and structural considerations within the group
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure clear financial insight and compliance
  • Assist with ongoing finance transformation or process improvement initiatives


Key Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
  • Proven experience as a Group Financial Controller (or similar senior role)
  • Strong technical accounting expertise (IFRS/UK GAAP)
  • Essential: Background or experience within legal or legal services environments
  • Experience within private equity-backed businesses is highly desirable
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Personable, approachable, and confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
