Senior Accountant: Housing

Rate: Up to £600 per day (INSIDE IR35)

The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Local Authority Accountant to provide financial leadership to the Housing, Leisure, and Community Support Services directorate. This is a long-term interim assignment focused on strategic financial advice and operational support during a significant departmental restructure.

Mandatory Experience

Candidates without extensive Local Authority accounting experience will not be considered.

• Comprehensive knowledge of the CIPFA Code of Practice and local government financial frameworks.

• Proven expertise in leading revenue budget preparation, closure of accounts (Year-End), and the Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS).

• Strong background in Housing finance (including HRA environments) is highly desirable to support service redesign.

• Experience working with Service Heads and Members to ensure financial policy compliance across complex community services.

• Rate: Up to £525 per day (via Umbrella)

• Duration: 12 months

• Start Date: ASAP

• Qualification: CCAB Qualified
