Job Title: Junior Claims Handler (Marine)

Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Claims Handler to join our Marine Claims team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to begin or develop a career within the specialist field of marine insurance. You will support the handling of marine-related claims from initial notification through to settlement, working closely with experienced colleagues and a range of external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the handling of marine claims, including cargo, hull & machinery, and liability claims
• Log new claims and ensure all relevant information is accurately recorded
• Liaise with clients, brokers, insurers, surveyors, and other third parties
• Support the collection and review of documentation such as bills of lading, invoices, survey reports, and correspondence
• Monitor claim progress and ensure timely updates are issued to all relevant parties
• Assist with reserving and settlement processes under supervision
• Identify potential issues, discrepancies, or recovery opportunities (e.g. subrogation)
• Maintain accurate and compliant records in line with internal procedures and regulatory standards

Skills & Experience

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office
• Interest in marine, shipping, or logistics industries (preferred)
• Previous experience in administration, insurance, or customer service is advantageous but not essential
