Junior Service Engineer - Fire & Security (Entry Level)\n\nLocation: Birmingham & Surrounding Areas\n Salary: £24,000 - £30,000\n Job Type: Full-time, Permanent\n\nI am representing an excellent opportunity on behalf of my client, who is looking to bring an enthusiastic Junior Service Engineer into the Fire & Security industry. This role is ideal for someone who is new to fire & security but has a practical background and wants strong training, development, and a long-term career path.\n\nThe Role\n\nYou will support experienced engineers with servicing and maintaining fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems. This is a hands-on position designed to give you the grounding to become a fully qualified Service Engineer.\n\nTraining & Development Opportunities\n\nMy client offers a structured training pathway, including:\n\nFull in-house training with senior engineers\n\nManufacturer training on leading fire & security systems\n\nFIA fire alarm training modules\n\nIP CCTV, networking and access control courses\n\nOngoing mentoring, toolbox talks, and skill development\n\nClear progression into a fully qualified engineer position\n\nThis is a great opportunity for someone wanting to properly break into the industry.\n\nDesirable Background (Not Essential)\n\nMy client is very open to people entering the industry, but the following backgrounds or skills would be highly desirable:\n\nElectrical Improver / Electrician experience\n\n1st fix or 2nd fix experience\n\nPulling cables / cable routing\n\nCable terminations\n\nPATCH PANEL / patching experience\n\nKnowledge of CAT5 / CAT6 and basic network infrastructure\n\nGeneral data cabling experience\n\nAble to use hand tools and power tools confidently\n\nExperience with trunking, tray, conduit, and basket installations\n\nECS/CSCS card\n\nIPAF / PASMA certifications\n\nThese backgrounds transfer extremely well into fire & security.\n\nDay-to-Day Responsibilities\n\nSupport senior engineers with servicing and maintenance\n\nAssist with system testing, inspections, and compliance checks\n\nHelp with basic fault-finding\n\nCarry out cabling and installation prep as required\n\nComplete simple service reports\n\nTravel across London & surrounding areas (vehicle provided after training)\n\nWhat My Client Offers\n\n£24,000-£30,000 starting salary\n\nFull training and qualification support\n\nCompany vehicle (after training), tools, uniform, PPE\n\nOvertime opportunities as skills develop\n\n25 days holiday + bank holidays\n\nClear progression to Service Engineer, Senior Engineer and specialist roles\n\nReady to take the next step?\n\napply today.\n\n Alecto Recruitment Ltd is acting as an employment business for this vacancy.
