A global manufacturer based in Kent is looking to recruit a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of innovative, safety‑critical products within the healthcare market. As a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the design and development of safety‑critical products for healthcare applications.
Creating 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks under the guidance of senior engineers.
Assisting with prototyping and testing, including hands‑on work with in‑house tools and 3D printing.
Helping to prepare technical documentation, specifications, and manufacturing drawings.
Working closely with cross‑functional teams such as Product Management and Compliance.
Contributing to design reviews, offering ideas and learning from experienced engineers.
Supporting material selection and liaising with suppliers when required.
Learning about regulatory requirements and applying them with support from internal specialists.
Key skills and experience for the Junior Mechanical Design Engineer:
A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
Some experience with SolidWorks (university, , or industry exposure).
A basic understanding of mechanical principles and product development processes.
Enthusiasm for hands‑on prototyping, testing, and problem‑solving.
Willingness to learn about manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, or injection moulding.
Strong communication skills and a proactive, collaborative approach.
A desire to grow into a well‑rounded design engineer within a supportive team.
