Join Our Award-Winning Team Barge East is looking for a Junior Sous Chef to join our 2 AA Rosette kitchen in Hackney Wick. Situated aboard a historic Dutch barge with a stunning riverside garden, we focus on sustainability, seasonality, and innovation in our modern British cuisine.
The Role As Junior Sous Chef, you will be a vital part of our kitchen management team, working closely with the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef to drive the kitchen forward in a fast-paced, high-quality environment. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chef de Partie ready to step up, or a current Junior Sous looking to make their mark in one of London's most unique dining destinations.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef in leading, motivating, and managing the kitchen brigade.
Maintain exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation across all services.
Assist with stock control, ordering, and waste reduction to successfully achieve GP targets.
Contribute to the development of creative, seasonal menus using local and homegrown produce.
Ensure full compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations at all times.
What Were Looking For
Previous experience at the CDP or Junior Sous level in a 2 AA Rosette (or higher) venue.
A genuine passion for seasonal, sustainable cooking and innovative modern British cuisine.
Strong leadership potential, problem-solving abilities, and great organisational skills.
The ability to thrive and remain calm under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
