KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Coventry (CV6)

Start Date: January 2026 Location: CV6, Coventry Contract: Full‑time, long‑term placement

APT Education is recruiting a committed KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a Coventry primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with children in Key Stage 1 (KS1) who have a range of special educational needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), non‑verbal communication, EAL (English as an Additional Language), and personal care requirements.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide tailored 1:1 and small‑group support for KS1 pupils with SEN needs

* Assist with personal care routines, communication strategies, and social development

* Adapt KS1 resources and activities to meet individual learning requirements

* Support non‑verbal and EAL learners with communication and inclusion

* Promote positive behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies

* Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to track pupil progress

Candidate Requirements

* UK primary school experience is essential

* Proven experience supporting pupils with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and EAL

* Strong understanding of KS1 curriculum and child development

* Empathetic, patient, and resilient approach to working with young children

* Enhanced DBS and references (APT Education will support with compliance)

* A genuine passion for supporting pupils of primary age and helping them thrive
