About the role We are looking for a Lab Technician to join our team at DS Smith Devizes, where you will play a key role in supporting site quality performance. You will be responsible for ensuring all laboratory activities are planned, managed, and carried out efficiently, helping to maintain high standards across product quality, hygiene, and compliance.Working closely with the Quality Assurance Manager and the wider site leadership team, you will provide essential quality support while building strong relationships with internal teams and external customers. You will also champion quality and hygiene standards across the site, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesThis role will have several key responsibilities including:Supporting the management and maintenance of site quality systemsManaging and conducting the onsite audit programmeCarrying out daily quality audits on products leaving the sitePerforming day-to-day quality testing within the laboratoryCommunicating regularly with all departments across the site on quality mattersSupporting and delivering quality-focused improvement projectsPreparing and responding to supplier questionnairesSupporting the QA Manager during customer and external auditsMonitoring complaint trends and ensuring actions are implemented and closed About you We're looking for a motivated and detail-driven individual with a passion for quality, compliance, and continuous improvement. You'll be comfortable working in a laboratory and manufacturing environment, confident communicating with a range of stakeholders, and committed to maintaining high standards across quality and hygiene.You will ideally have:An equivalent standard to GCSE grade C or above in Maths, English, and SciencePrevious experience in a quality or laboratory-based role, ideally within a manufacturing environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with knowledge of process improvement and root cause analysis methodologiesGood communication skills, able to work effectively across departments and with external customersStrong IT skills, with essential experience in Microsoft Office (including Excel) for reporting and data analysisExperience supporting or conducting audits, with internal auditor experience preferredA structured, methodical approach with excellent attention to detailThe ability to manage priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environmentExperience of working within a corrugated manufacturing or packaging environment would be advantageous but is not essential.This role would suit someone who enjoys investigation, data analysis, and continuous improvement, and who is keen to develop their quality career within a supportive and collaborative site teamBenefitsAdditional benefits include:25 days' holiday plus bank holidaysPension schemeLife assuranceIncome protectionEmployee assistance programCycle to work schemeShopping discountsOn site parkingLocation: On Site - DevizesHours: 38 hours per week - Monday to FridayAbout usWe're DS Smith, the company who are redefining packaging for a changing world.
