About the role:

Garden State Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a part-time Laboratory Technician for our Microbiology department, working approximately 20 to 25 hours per week. The Laboratory Technician will report to the Microbiology Manager at our Main Lab located in Hillside, NJ. The typical weekday schedule runs from 1:30 PM to 6:00 PM; however, the ending time might vary depending on when the scheduled work is completed.

What you'll do:

The primary responsibility of the Laboratory Technician includes:

Preparing media

Recording temperatures

Receiving samples

Logging sample into our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)

Analyzing samples utilizing approved EPA and Standard Methods

Calibrating pH meters and balances

Laboratory maintenance (washing glassware, discarding samples, general housekeeping, and other tasks as needed)

Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor or manager to meet short-term departmental needs.

Qualifications:

Experience & Education Requirements

• A high school degree or equivalent experience • Some experience (education or work) in the sciences • Prior laboratory experience is a plus

Job Skills

• Examples where attention to detail was needed in prior roles • Examples of where flexibility and willingness to learn contributed to success • Demonstrated communication and multitasking skills • Computer skills: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
