Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Lead Commissioning Engineer on a 10 Month Contract, based in Scotland
Role Summary
The Lead Commissioning Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing commissioning activities for high-voltage (HV) transmission substations and related infrastructure. This includes ensuring systems are safely energized, tested, and handed over in compliance with technical standards, regulations, and project timelines.
* Lead and oversee commissioning activities for HV transmission substations and associated equipment.
* Manage and coordinate site teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project milestones are achieved.
* Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and documentation in line with industry standards.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout all project phases.
* Perform testing, inspection, and validation of HV systems including transformers, switchgear, protection, and control systems.
* Identify and resolve technical issues during commissioning to ensure optimal system performance.
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and site personnel.
* Liaise with clients and project managers to deliver updates, reports, and technical guidance.
Requirements
* 20+ years of experience in HV transmission stations.
* Minimum 5 years in a Lead Commissioning Engineer or similar leadership role.
* Strong knowledge of commissioning processes, standards, and safety practices within the power transmission sector.
* Demonstrated experience working on large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
