A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Islington is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Specialist Support Assistant to join their team from April 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs in a caring, well-structured environment.
The Role:
Full-time, long-term position within a supportive primary setting
Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, and speech & language difficulties
Supporting children both in the classroom and through targeted interventions
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external specialists to implement individual support strategies
Helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and emotional regulation, alongside academic progress
The Ideal Candidate:
Has previous experience supporting children with SEN (essential)
Demonstrates a strong understanding of inclusive practice and SEN strategies
Calm, patient, and empathetic, particularly when supporting pupils with additional emotional or behavioural needs
Confident communicator, able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
Proactive, reliable, and genuinely committed to improving outcomes for children
