*About The Role*
As our new Learning Support Mentor, you will provide high-quality support and occasional supervision to ensure effective service delivery at AutismAble.
This role includes direct support to members and contributing to service growth and strategic initiatives.
This is a 30-hour per week role, working across South Tyneside and Sunderland, that involves mainly day-time work and occasional early evening session to accommodate the needs of our members.
*What You’ll Be Doing*
*1. Individual and Group Support*
* Provide personalised one-on-one and group support to help autistic individuals achieve their goals, focusing on independence and confidence. * You will be supporting across a number of learning pathways that include: Independent Travel, Cooking, Music & Media, Business Enterprise, Gardening & Crafts. * Assist members in developing essential life skills, including communication, social interaction, and self-regulation, using tailored strategies that build on individual strengths. * Support the implementation of behaviour management strategies, ensuring a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all members.
*2. Progress Monitoring*
* Monitor and update individualised support plans, ensuring they reflect current progress and remain aligned with each member’s goals. * Maintain accurate records and provide regular feedback to team members and leadership on member progress and areas for development.
*3. Strategic Development and Outreach*
* Assist in implementing new services in additional geographical areas, in line with organisational goals. * Contribute to outreach and recruitment efforts to expand services and engage new participants. * Represent AutismAble at external events, promoting best practices in supporting neurodiverse individuals and raising the organisation’s profile.

*Your Experience, Education and Skills*
Experience:
● Minimum of 3 years of experience working with neurodivergent individuals or in a similar role.
● Experience with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and managing challenging behaviour is essential.
Education:
● Learning support qualification, HTLA or Youth Work equivalent at Level 3
Skills:
● Experience in developing and implementing support plans.
● Ability to tailor support to individual needs.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Bonus Points:
● Valid DBS (enhanced)
● First Aid and Safeguarding certifications.
