About the Role As Legal Counsel you will be responsible for providing legal support to the business. Key responsibilities will include providing advice on public and regulatory law and working on a wide variety of energy related matters. You will develop an expert understanding of relevant primary and secondary legislation, particularly the Electricity Act 1989. In addition to an expert understanding of the licence conditions and related regulatory obligations to be complied with and a general understanding of the regulatory finance framework, specifically Ofgem’s RIIO price control framework. Who You Are:
A legal professional either a UK qualified Solicitor or Barrister with experience in commercial, construction or regulatory law, acquired in private practice and/or within an in-house legal team (you are likely to have between 0-4 years PQE, although all levels of PQE will be considered). A background of working in a regulated sector is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. Commercial, pragmatic and solutions‑focused, with the ability to balance legal risk against business priorities. Strong organisational and management skills with a proven ability to manage both external and internal stakeholders. Excellent communication, collaboration, analytical and influencing skills. Strategic thinker with a proactive “get things done” attitude.
