Part-Time Commercial Solicitor / Legal CounselPart-Time - 4-Days per weekLocation: Newcastle | Contract: 6 months | Salary: £53,000 FTE pro rataWe are looking for a commercially minded solicitor to step into a fast-moving business and make an immediate impact. This is a varied in-house role covering commercial contracts, privacy, GDPR, compliance, and general legal support across the business. You will be advising teams directly, keeping projects moving, and ensuring legal risk is managed in a practical, business-focused way.About the companyOur client provides innovative software, data, and insights for the global construction industry. The business is ambitious, forward-thinking, and values practical, commercially aware legal support.The roleYou will be responsible for: Providing day-to-day commercial legal advice across contracts, privacy, GDPR, compliance, and general business mattersDrafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of agreements including service agreements, NDAs, consultancy agreements, employment documents, and supplier/customer contractsSupporting privacy and data protection activities, including internal policies and GDPR guidanceMaintaining legal templates, registers, and documentation, and liaising with external counsel when specialist advice is neededHelping business teams navigate legal risk with clear, practical guidance This is a hands-on role where you will work across teams and projects, helping the business maintain momentum during a key fixed-term period.About you Qualified solicitor with strong post-qualification experience in commercial lawExperienced drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, and providing practical legal advice in a business environmentSolid understanding of data protection, privacy, and GDPR complianceOrganised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities without losing qualityComfortable working independently and collaborating with non-legal stakeholders Why applyThis is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, innovative company on a short-term contract with flexibility.
