As a legal officer you will be responsible for running our civil litigation caseload across the whole of England & Wales and for providing training to the wider team on civil litigation and updates in civil law and practice. Subject to your civil litigation workload commitments, you will also be expected to assist the team on general employment law matters, including Employment Tribunal work at a level appropriate to your knowledge and experience (employment law training can be provided, if required). This will be an exciting opportunity to work with the RCN legal team across England & Wales, with longer‑term possibilities of becoming a key member of our team in developing and enhancing our representation of members in the civil courts. Responsibilities
Run a civil litigation caseload across England & Wales, including County Court and High Court work. Provide training and updates on civil litigation and developments in civil law and practice. Assist the wider team on general employment law matters and Employment Tribunal work as appropriate. Represent claimants (or, where relevant, defendants) in a claimant‑focused environment.
Qualifications
Qualified Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or Barrister. In‑depth experience of conducting civil litigation in County Court and High Court. Experience and aptitude for representing claimants (defendant experience is also considered if the applicant shows interest in a claimant‑focused environment).
