Literacy & Numeracy Intervention Teaching Assistant
SEN
to support pupils across our partner schools in the Brighton area. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in helping children strengthen the core skills they need to succeed both in and beyond the classroom.
In this position, you will deliver structured intervention sessions to pupils who require extra support with reading, writing, and mathematical understanding. Many pupils you work with may have Special Educational Needs, including ASD, ADHD, or SEMH needs. Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists, you will help identify learning gaps, provide targeted support, and build pupils confidence through positive, consistent guidance.
Your contribution will be central in helping pupils re-engage with learning, make meaningful progress, and develop essential foundations for their long-term academic journey.
Key Skills & Experience:
Experience or a strong interest in supporting literacy and numeracy development, particularly for pupils with SEN (ASD, SEMH, ADHD, etc.).
Understanding of phonics, reading progression, and early maths strategies (or a willingness to learn).
Ability to deliver engaging 1:1 and small-group intervention sessions.
A patient, calm, and encouraging approach, with excellent communication and teamwork skills.

References covering the past 2 years.
An Enhanced DBS Check on the update service (or willingness to apply
support provided).
Previous experience working with children is preferred (minimum 6 months).
