Maintenance Engineer - Permanent Nights £38,000 to £45,000 doe (Technician to Engineer) Join a Growing, High-Tech FMCG Manufacturing Site About the Role Following its recent acquisition by a global industry leader, this site is entering a period of significant investment, automation upgrades, and long-term expansion. The facility produces high-quality FMCG products for major UK retailers and offers a clean, modern, and well-organised environment with strong opportunities for technical development. We are seeking hands-on Maintenance Technicians to support the reliability, uptime, and safe operation of production lines and site facilities. This position is ideal for individuals with a solid mechanical foundation who want to advance their skills within a fast-paced, highly regulated manufacturing setting. Key Responsibilities * Execute planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive maintenance tasks to minimise downtime. * Conduct mechanical repairs and component replacements on production assets, including drives, solenoids, motors, conveyors, pneumatics, and hydraulics. * Assist with basic electrical fault finding and isolation where trained. * Operate, inspect, and maintain general facility systems to ensure site-wide reliability. * Support waste management and recycling processes, including correct handling of hazardous substances in line with COSHH requirements. * Perform seasonal grounds maintenance, including snow and ice clearance for safe site access. * Participate in goods-in/goods-out operations and safe chemical storage and handling. * Complete routine H&S inspections, ensuring emergency equipment (fire extinguishers, spill kits, eyewash stations) is maintained and compliant. * Maintain high standards of workplace organisation (5S), cleanliness, and operational discipline. Qualifications & Skills Required * NVQ Level 2 in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a similar discipline (with a willingness to complete Level 3). * Foundational knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical basics, and fabrication techniques. * Strong awareness of safe working practices, including LOTO and hazard identification. * Practical problem-solver with a proactive and structured approach to tasks. * Reliable, organised, and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship. * Effective communicator and team player with the ability to adapt to changing priorities. * Physically fit for manual handling, outdoor work, and machinery operation
