Job Duties for the Maintenance Engineer:

The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all production machinery and site services within the manufacturing facility. The role focuses on minimising downtime, improving equipment reliability, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production equipment, including assembly lines, winding machines, cutting machines, and ancillary equipment.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnosing faults and implementing effective repairs to minimise production downtime.
  • Record all maintenance activities accurately within the maintenance management system.
  • Maintain and repair mechanical systems such as bearings, shafts, gearboxes, drives, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Carry out basic electrical fault-finding and repairs (e.g. motors, sensors, switches, control panels) within competency limits.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and modification of machinery and equipment.
  • Identify recurring faults and recommend permanent corrective actions.
  • Contribute to equipment reliability improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Support lean manufacturing and 5S activities within the engineering and production areas.
Key Attributes for the Maintenance Engineer:
  • Proven experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
  • Basic electrical knowledge and fault diagnosis.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety requirements.
Additional Information for the Maintenance Engineer:
  • Monday to Friday
  • 07.30 - 15.30.
  • Friday finish 13.30.
  • £35,000 Per Annum.
  • Own transport is advantageous.
