You will oversee both planned and reactive maintenance, manage client relationships, and drive profitability across the department.This is a standalone position reporting directly to the Managing Director, offering genuine long-term career progression within a stable and supportive business.QualificationsNVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent) AM2 Qualification 18th Edition Wiring Regulations 2391-52 Inspection & Testing NICEIC / ECA recognised (desirable) Additional certifications such as Health & Safety, First Aid, or Asbestos Awareness (desirable)Key ResponsibilitiesManage and lead the Small Works & Maintenance division, ensuring quality and profitability Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance works across multiple clients Carry out site surveys, prepare costings, and win new tenders/projects Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients Oversee electrical small works projects from inception through to completion Ensure all works comply with relevant British Standards and client requirements Maintain full commercial control, including budgeting and profit targets Lead, organise and develop the maintenance and small works team Coordinate out-of-hours call-outs and emergency response Support project teams with defects and post-project maintenance opportunities Work closely with Health & Safety and Quality teams to ensure compliance Oversee company vehicle maintenance and operational requirements Ensure all electrical certification is completed in line with SLAs RequirementsProven experience in a similar Small Works / Maintenance Manager role Strong background in electrical building services and installations Experience managing multiple projects, teams, and budgets Commercially aware with a strong client-facing approach Excellent leadership, organisation, and communication skills Ability to manage both operational delivery and business development IT literate (MS Office essential; Cypher desirable) Full UK Driving Licence Company OverviewOur client is a well-established Mechanical & Electrical Building Services contractor with over 45 years of industry experience, delivering high-quality design, installation, and maintenance solutions across the Midlands.Originally founded as an electrical contractor, the business has grown into a full M&E provider, supporting both public and private sector clients across a diverse portfolio including education, healthcare, heritage, commercial, and hospitality environments.The company has built a strong reputation for delivering projects to a high standard, on time and within budget, while maintaining a collaborative and client-focused approach.
