\n\n Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor \n\n Location: The Holden School, Leigh WN7 4SB \n\n Salary: Up to £30,000.00 per annum depending on experience (not pro rata)\n\n Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, \n\n\n Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only \n\n Start Date: January 2026\n\n We’re looking for a proactive, skilled Maintenance Supervisor to take ownership of our school site and make a real difference every single day. \n\n At The Holden School, you’ll play a vital role behind the scenes—ensuring our buildings, grounds and facilities are safe, secure and fit for purpose so our students and staff can thrive. \n\n You’ll take the lead on day-to-day maintenance, security and grounds work, responding swiftly to issues and coordinating both planned and emergency works.
It’s a hands-on position that combines practical skill, independence and strong communication with staff and contractors. \n\n Keeping the site safe and secure – opening and closing buildings, acting as a key holder and responding to emergency call-outs when required \n Hands-on maintenance – carrying out repairs, decorating and general upkeep without contractor support where possible \n Health & safety responsibilities – completing routine checks, fire alarm testing, drills and water hygiene monitoring \n Systems monitoring – overseeing heating, cooling and lighting systems and reporting faults \n Contractor coordination – arranging, supervising and signing off planned and emergency works \n Seasonal and specialist tasks – gritting, spill clean-ups, graffiti removal and keeping grounds tidy \n Logistics and stock control – furniture moves, porterage, equipment management and waste collection \n Pride in presentation – ensuring the school always looks clean, well maintained and welcoming \n\n Follow all policies relating to safeguarding, health and safety, security and confidentiality \n Participate in training, performance reviews and ongoing professional development \n Full UK Driving Licence \n Proven experience maintaining buildings and facilities to a high standard \n Previous caretaking, maintenance or grounds experience (school or similar setting desirable)\n The Holden School is an independent specialist day school for boys and girls aged from 5 to 16, catering for pupils with a wide range of needs in Lancashire, Manchester and surrounding areas. Our dedicated team work together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.
