We are working with a large, established manufacturing operation to appoint a Maintenance Team Leader into a critical on-site leadership position.
This role suits a hands-on engineer who enjoys leading from the front, maintaining high engineering standards and driving performance across a multi-skilled maintenance team in a fast-paced environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for coordinating and leading maintenance activities across a production site, ensuring plant availability, safety and engineering standards are consistently met.
Key responsibilities include:

Leading and motivating a team of multi-skilled engineers on shift
*
Planning, prioritising and allocating reactive and planned maintenance work
*
Maintaining compliance with health & safety legislation and site procedures
*
Providing hands-on engineering support during complex breakdowns
*
Ensuring effective communication and consistency between shifts
*
Coaching and developing engineers and apprentices
*
Supporting continuous improvement and longer-term engineering initiatives
*
Escalating production or engineering risks where required
*
Conducting reviews, basic HR administration and performance discussions
*
Reporting on engineering performance using structured KPIs
Candidate Profile
Essential:
*
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline
*
Strong background in multi-skilled maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment
*
Previous experience leading, supervising or acting up within an engineering team
*
Solid electrical and mechanical fault-finding capability
*
Understanding of preventative maintenance, reliability and CI principles
*
Confident communicator with a practical, hands-on leadership style
*
Comfortable using basic IT systems and maintenance software
Desirable:
*
Formal leadership or management qualification
*
Experience using CMMS / maintenance planning systems
*
Exposure to structured performance reporting frameworks
