Mechanical Chargehand - Substation (SSE Crossaig)
Location: Crossaig, Scotland
Rates: £35.80 an hour +
Start date: Mid-April
Duration: 8 months
Turner Lovell are recruiting for a Mechanical Chargehand to support a major substation project at Crossaig. This is a hands-on leadership role, working as part of the site team delivering mechanical and electrical installation works within a substation environment.
You will take responsibility for leading work parties while remaining on the tools, ensuring all activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

• 
  Supervise and coordinate mechanical installation activities on site
• 
  Act as a working chargehand, supporting installation while leading the team
• 
  Ensure completion of task cards, QA documentation, and site records
• 
  Work closely with the Site Supervisor and wider delivery team
• 
  Maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance
• 
  Coordinate with other trades to ensure efficient and safe delivery of works
• 
  Proactively plan upcoming tasks, ensuring materials, drawings, and resources are in place

Requirements

• 
  Proven experience working on substation or similar industrial projects (e.g. power, oil & gas)
• 
  Previous experience in a Chargehand / Supervisory position
• 
  Strong understanding of mechanical installation within HV environments
• 
  Ability to lead teams while maintaining a hands-on approach
