We are looking for an experienced and proactive Mechanical Design & CAD Engineer with a strong background in mechanical building services design, including HVAC and public health systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on design environment, enjoys varied project work from large-scale domestic properties to school developments and is confident taking projects through RIBA Stages 3 to 5.\n\nAs a senior member of the team, you will also be expected to mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and ensure design consistency and quality across multiple projects.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Lead mechanical building services design on projects from RIBA Stage 3 (developed design) through to Stage 5 (construction).\n\n * Produce high-quality detailed design drawings, schematics, and schedules using CAD and BIM software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or similar).\n\n * Develop energy-efficient HVAC systems, hot and cold-water services, drainage layouts, and other public health engineering elements.\n\n * Ensure compliance with current building regulations, CIBSE guidelines, and other relevant codes of practice.\n\n * Coordinate mechanical services with architectural, structural, and electrical disciplines.\n\n * Conduct site surveys, attend design meetings, and support site installation reviews.\n\n * Mentor junior engineers and review their work to ensure quality and consistency.\n\n * Participate in client meetings and help develop technical proposals.\n\n * Maintain accurate project documentation and revision history throughout the project lifecycle.\n\n * Minimum 3 years’ experience in mechanical services design, ideally across sectors such as residential, education, or public sector.\n\n * Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD (AutoCAD, Revit MEP ).\n\n * Solid understanding of HVAC, public health systems, and mechanical services coordination.\n\n * Experience working across RIBA Stages 3–5, with a practical mindset towards installation and commissioning.\n\n * Excellent communication and team leadership skills, including mentoring of junior engineers.\n\n * Relevant qualifications\n\nPLEASE NOTE: This is not a hybrid role\n\nComfortable managing several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment\n\nApply today
