Talent Acquisition & Development Advisor at Tata Steel UK
Department: Business Improvement, Building Systems UK
Location: Shotton (CH5 2NH) – Hybrid Working
Closing Date: Tuesday 29th July 2025
We believe that our strength is not just in our steel but the diversity of our workforce. Our people make the difference.
At Tata Steel, we believe our strength lies not just in our steel – but in the people who help shape it. Building Systems UK is looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer to support the development and delivery of our capital expenditure roadmap and business improvement goals.
If you’re looking for a role with real impact, this is your opportunity to help transform our operations and future-proof our success.
What you will do
Based out of our Shotton site and working closely with colleagues across our manufacturing, engineering and procurement functions, you’ll help scope, shape and support a variety of capital and business improvement projects. Your work will involve preparing project briefs and technical specs, managing supplier engagement, and supporting detailed project planning and delivery. It’s a hands-on role, where you’ll bring engineering principles to life across both current operations and future development.
You’ll play a key role in updating and delivering our 10-year Capital Expenditure Roadmap, helping ensure the right investments are made at the right time – and that every project delivers value.
Key areas of focus include:
- Preparing detailed project specifications and plans
- Managing tender documentation and supplier engagement
- Supporting cross-functional improvement projects
- Producing detailed drawings and technical documentation
- Contributing to change management, training and implementation
What you will need
We’re looking for someone with:
- A strong educational background in an engineering discipline (degree or equivalent), or relevant industry experience
- Experience in manufacturing is beneficial – ideally within steel, metals, or construction, but not essential
- Excellent communication and planning skills, with confidence working across teams
- An analytical and proactive mindset, with good awareness of project risk
Whether you’re already in a similar project-focused role or looking to step up into one, we’d love to hear from you.

- A market competitive salary
- 35 days holidays per annum
- Annual Pay Review
- Bonus Scheme – subject to business performance
- One of the UK’s leading defined contribution pension schemes (10% employer contribution / 6% employee contribution)
We also have an extensive list of lifestyle benefits including free onsite parking at all of our sites, an employee assistance programme as well as Employee discount scheme for companies including Vodafone, Jaguar Land Rover and also various local services.
