Mechanical Project Supervisor
Purpose of the Role
The role involves managing the Council's building and maintenance projects within the Regeneration, Property, and Housing sector. You will provide technical specialist advice in mechanical building services engineering, ensuring works are delivered efficiently, meet required quality standards, and comply with statutory legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, with specific attention to water hygiene and legionella control. Key Accountabilities Act as a
key advisor to the Corporate Landlord
on compliance of the Corporate Estate, in line with ISO 55000 International Standards for Asset Management.
Provide technical specialist advice in mechanical building services engineering.
Oversee compliance, servicing, and project delivery for heating, hot and cold water services, air conditioning, and commercial kitchen services.
Manage building and maintenance projects efficiently, ensuring performance specifications and quality standards are met.
Oversee mechanical engineering project delivery, preparing reports, estimates, specifications, drawings, and works schedules for quotations or tendering.
Supervise agency staff, consultants, or other personnel on projects as directed, monitoring progress, technical content, and quality of workmanship.
Oversee lift inspection programs, ensuring all lifts are examined at specified intervals by a competent person, in accordance with legislation.
Maintain communication with the Building Surveying / Engineering Manager, providing updates on projects, compliance, and maintenance activities.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance building performance, efficiency, and safety.
Qualifications & Experience HNC (Higher National Certificate) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or equivalent.
Extensive HVAC experience and other relevant regulatory qualifications.
Strong knowledge of mechanical building services, compliance, and statutory maintenance standards.
Health and safety awareness, particularly regarding water hygiene, legionella, and general mechanical safety.
Full driving licence
- required to travel safely and efficiently between multiple Council sites.

Able to work independently, on-site, and in an office environment.
