Mental Health Support Assistant | About the Role Full-time, long-term position running until July 2026. Working closely with pupils who require additional emotional, behavioural and learning support. Gaining practical experience for those considering careers in education, psychology or SEND support. Regular training and professional development built into the role. Mental Health Support Assistant | Responsibilities Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND, including SEMH needs. Helping children regulate emotions and engage positively with learning. Supporting classroom activities and adapting tasks to meet individual needs. Working alongside class teachers and the SENDCo to support lesson delivery. Contributing to a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment. Mental Health Support Assistant | Person Specification A 2:1 degree from a top 20 UK university. A clear interest in working with children with additional needs. Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or similar needs is essential. A patient, empathetic and reliable approach. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Mental Health Support Assistant | What the School Offers Weekly CPD sessions to support your development. Ongoing guidance from the SENDCo and teaching staff. Regular input from a Speech and Language Therapist and Educational Psychologist. A supportive school environment with a strong focus on pupil wellbeing.
