Ivy Resource Group are recruiting for a talented and driven MEP Design Manager to provide technical support to both Pre-construction and Operations teams. Our client is a tier 1 contractor who are looking for someone to join them on a permanent basis in Eastcheap, London for an immediate start.\n\nThe company\n\nOur client is a leading UK building, infrastructure, engineering and fit-out company. They deliver vital projects across a range of sectors including health, education, highways, justice, defence, aviation, water and environment.
\n\nThe role entails: \n\nThis role is key in supporting the production of technical tender submissions and in managing the engineering services design process from tender through to construction and commissioning.\n\nThis position spans both pre- and post-contract award, with a strong technical advisory focus. From tender stage, you'll support decision-making that enhances project outcomes and long-term value. The increasing complexity of technical submissions has created a need for experienced design support within the pre-construction team.\n\nWhat You Will Be Doing:\n\nProduce technical responses for Engineering Services tender proposals\nAssess tender documentation and provide recommendations for immediate action\nManage designer appointments including proposals for Design and CAD/REVIT services\nConduct value engineering reviews and provide technical input on design solutions\nParticipate in bid processes and potentially lead bids from a technical perspective\nAttend and coordinate internal design meetings, providing minutes and follow-up\nSupport presentations and client interviews with technical expertise\nAttend design development meetings and contribute commercial and technical solutions\nConduct buildability reviews and identify practical design enhancements\nDevelop and manage project-specific Engineering Services Risk Registers\nLiaise with Procurement teams to ensure suitable and compliant supply chain integration\nSupport in defining design scopes and duties\nMonitor design programme deliverables and ensure timely outputs from design partners\nProvide commercial oversight and reporting on design development and variations\nCoordinate overall MEP design activities including supply chain and stakeholder inputs\nLead performance reviews and KPIs for design partners\nAct as main liaison for Engineering Services design activities and maintain strong client relationships\nResolve technical queries and suggest alternative design options during design and construction\nProvide input on commissioning strategy and its impact on design\nEnsure all activities align with internal systems, policies, and procedures \n\nWhat We Need From You:\n\nExperience in MEP Engineering in both pre-construction and delivery phases\nStrong writing skills for technical bid responses\nUnderstanding of BSRIA BG6 and design appointment processes\nFamiliarity with relevant industry legislation and accreditation standards\nProficient in IT, BIM, and related design tools\nSolid background in technical design, customer management, and engineering principles\nExperience in managing design, bids, and projects effectively\nAwareness of quality systems, environmental procedures, and design risk management\nAbility to identify value opportunities and assess customer benefit vs risk\nProactive and flexible approach to team collaboration and client engagement\nExcellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills\nStrong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines\nCommercial awareness and innovative mindset \n\nSalary & Benefits: \n\n£67,000 - £75,000\nCar allowance\n26 days annual leave (plus option to buy/sell up to 3 days)\nPrivate medical insurance (extendable to family)\nLife Assurance\nDefined contribution pension scheme (matched up to 8%)\nVolunteering leave (2 days per year)\nAgile and flexible working options\nEnhanced parental leave policies\nEmployee Assistance Programme\nCoverage of professional membership fees\nFlexible Benefits scheme including: Critical illness insurance (option for partner cover), dental and travel insurance, cycle to work scheme ann retail vouchers, payroll giving, and leisure discounts.
