Smiths Equipment Hire Ltd are the Northwest's Largest Independent Equipment Hire Company with 19 Hire It Centres located across the Northwest and Yorkshire region.
Due to business expansion, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a driven and enthusiastic Merchant Hire Manager to start in one our new Leeds facility. The role of Merchant Tool Hire Manager is to support the Smiths Hire network and their customer base on a day-to-day basis in the management and smooth running of the team and the facility itself.
The ideal candidate for this role will have Tool Hire / Sales experience and will have a clear understanding of how to work efficiently in both a hire and sales role. This position requires someone who is a dedicated team player and who has the success of the overall facility in focus
You may be required to cover a multitude of roles in the early stages, and you will be working alongside the existing plant and tool hire depots focusing on the following key areas so flexibility and dedication to support others is key.
Position Objectives:
- Ensure open quotations are dealt with in a timely manner
- Chase all late cash hires and keep to a minimum
- Deal with all loss damages initially and liaise with the head office team
- Keep Stock always replenished
- Contract conversions must be 85% above
- Ensure no equipment is hired under inspection
- Ensure all telephone calls are handled correctly
- Improve Hire Protect Sales
- Meet Depot Targets
- Contribute to the overall depot sales targets
Other main responsibilities are:
- Maximise sales by providing high levels of customer service in all areas including answering phones promptly, handling queries and orders efficiently and accurately.
- Serving on the depot counter providing a quick and accurate response to customers needs
- Taking of orders, processing and following them through to completion.
- Arranging delivery and collection of orders in according with the customers requirements.
- Liaising, where required, with other depot employees, customers, depots, workshops and sales teams
- Ensuring that all opportunities to maximise the depot and the groups sales to a customer are attained
- Ensuring that all products hired to customers are safe and have been properly tested in accordance with company procedures
- Processing all input to IT systems and paperwork relating to on-hires, off-hires and stock transfers, etc.
- Developing and maintaining knowledge of the depots equipment for hire/sale including basic knowledge of accessory, safety and test & run requirements
- Ensure any repairs and maintenance of equipment required are carried out
- Handling of cash transaction
- Keeping the depot, and particularly the hire desk area, tidy always

This is a full time position, working Monday Friday
