Salary: £35,019 - £41,380 + 21% unsocial hours payment
Location: Newcastle
Hours: 37.5hrs average, 4‑on / 4‑off, 12‑hour shifts
Type of contract: Fixed term contract, minimum 6 months, potential extension
We're recruiting for an experienced Motor Vehicle Technician to join a busy workshop team on a fixed-term basis, supporting the maintenance of our essential emergency service fleet.
What you'll do
Carry out high‑quality servicing, inspections and repairs on vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes (majority up to 5.5t). Diagnose electrical, mechanical and hydraulic faults. Complete planned and unplanned maintenance to keep our fleet operational and safe. Road test vehicles as required. Use our computerised fleet management system to record work accurately. Liaise professionally with managers, crews, suppliers and contractors. Maintain a clean, safe workspace and uphold NEASUS standards. Provide occasional cover for the Team Leader when needed.What we're looking for
Strong experience working on LGVs/light HGVs Excellent diagnostic skills Confident using fleet or workshop systems Professional communication and teamwork Commitment to safe, high‑quality, value‑for‑money repairs Ability to keep up with industry technology and standardsWorking pattern
