Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

We are looking for aMultiskilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to work on a permanent basis in St Helens.

The role is working for a global manufacturing company.

The shifts for theMultiskilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer are Monday to Friday; 6am
- 2pm and 2pm
- 10pm (No nights).

Salary is c£40-50,000 per annum (depending on experience) plus 25 days' holidays, company bonus, healthcare, pension etc.

Duties for theMultiskilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer: Key Responsibilities Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical production equipment.

Diagnose electrical faults on machinery including motors, sensors, control panels, PLCs, drives, and automation systems.

Carry out mechanical repairs and adjustments as required, including work on pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, and general plant equipment.

Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise operational disruption.

Assist in the installation, commissioning, and modification of machinery and production lines.

Ensure all maintenance tasks are performed safely and in compliance with company procedures and industry regulations.

Maintain accurate maintenance logs, documentation, and equipment records.

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to reliability and efficiency projects.

Support cross-functional teams including production, quality, and engineering.

Participate in shift patterns, on-call rota, or overtime as required.

Skills & Experience Time-served apprenticeship or recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering (NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent).

Strong electrical fault-finding skills within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Good mechanical aptitude and experience working on mechanical systems.

Familiarity with PLC systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.) is desirable.

Experience working with AC/DC motors, variable speed drives, sensors, and automated machinery.

Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.

Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.

Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team. xbpsjku

Knowledge of health & safety legislation, safe isolation procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
