Location: Central London - Whitechapel & Farringdon Cluster\nSalary: £36,900 - £39,975\nContract: Permanent,\nHours: 37.5 per week\nDriving licence required\n\nAbout the Role\n\nTotal Staff are recruiting for a Multi-Trade Maintenance Operative (Electrical Bias) to join a flagship cluster of student accommodation properties across the Whitechapel and Farringdon areas.\n\nThis is a key role in a high-performing facilities team - ideal for someone with strong electrical skills who is confident working across a variety of building maintenance tasks. You'll support five modern PBSA buildings, ensuring they remain safe, compliant, and well-maintained, while delivering a high standard of service to residents and staff.\n\nWe're looking for someone who is technically capable, customer-focused, and comfortable working independently across multiple buildings.\n\nKey ResponsibilitiesElectrical Maintenance\n\nCarry out electrical repairs, fault-finding, and testing across student accommodation buildings\nDiagnose and repair issues involving lighting, power, small power circuits, isolators, and control equipment\nComplete planned preventative electrical maintenance in line with compliance standards\nSupport periodic testing and statutory checks where requiredMulti-Trade & General Maintenance\n\nComplete day-to-day maintenance tasks across plumbing, basic carpentry, and general building fabric\nAssist with repairs to fixtures, fittings, door furniture, appliances, and communal areas\nSupport room inspections, snagging and turnaround works (January + Summer periods)\nRespond to reactive maintenance requests logged via PDA/CAFM systemsCompliance & Safety\n\nEnsure all works are carried out safely and in line with company procedures\nMaintain accurate maintenance records and update job tickets\nCarry out routine plant checks and support statutory compliance works\nEscalate high-risk issues and support contractors on-siteCluster Support\n\nWork across five nearby properties, providing a shared maintenance resource\nEngage professionally with students, staff, and stakeholders\nAssist the Facilities Team Leader with workload planning during busy periodsIdeal Candidate\n\nNVQ Level 2 (or above) in Electrical Installation / Electrical Maintenance (essential)\nAdditional trade skills (e.g., plumbing, carpentry, decorating, basic HVAC) are highly desirable\nExperience in student accommodation, residential buildings, hotels, or commercial facilities\nStrong fault-finding ability with a safe and methodical approach\nComfortable working alone or as part of a wider team\nExcellent communication and customer service skills\nFull UK driving licence (required for cluster travel)What's On Offer\n\n£36,900 - £39,975 salary\nPermanent, full-time position\nMulti-site role across a premium PBSA cluster\nOpportunity to work with modern plant and facilities systems\nStrong team support and clear internal progression routes\nStability, training, and long-term career development
