About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated NPD Technologist to join our team at our Gunstone's Bakery site, which is a long-standing and respected site, known for producing premium bakery products such as bread rolls and hot cross buns for high-profile retail partners including Marks & Spencer. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with at least one year of industry experience post-graduation, ideally from a food-related degree background.
You'll play a key role in the development and launch of new food products, supporting everything from concept creation to final submission. This is an ideal role for someone who's passionate about food, thrives in a busy environment, and is eager to grow within the NPD function and the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
Support the end-to-end process of new product development
Assist in recipe creation, sample preparation, and kitchen/lab trials
Complete and maintain NPD documentation, including product submission forms
Use Excel, PowerPoint, and internal systems for admin and project tracking
Upload products to retailer portals and manage submissions
Work closely with the NPD Manager, NPD Baker, and wider technical and commercial teams
About You
If you are already an NPD technologist or a graduate student who has had a placement in the food industry, then this role is for you.
Key Skills
Degree or equivalent in science/food science-related qualification
A creative individual with a real passion for food
Confident with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and general administrative tasks
Strong understanding of the marketplace - products, consumers, and competitors
Strong interpersonal and good communication skills and attention to detail
