Your new roleAs the Office / Staff Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the church, managing a small and dedicated team, and ensuring the smooth running of both administrative and staffing functions. This is a varied and rewarding role that requires a proactive, organised, and compassionate individual who is comfortable working in a faith-based environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating the staff team and managing workloads, cover, and communication
- Leading on HR matters including appraisals, training, compliance, and recruitment
- Supporting church volunteers and maintaining internal systems such as ChurchSuite
- Managing bookings and lettings for events, concerts, and regular hirers
- Overseeing communications, service sheets, notices, and publicity materials
- Ensuring compliance with safeguarding, GDPR, and health & safety policies
- Liaising closely with church officers, elders, and the minister to support the church's mission
What you'll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you will need:
- Proven experience in office or staff management
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
- A flexible and collaborative approach to work
- Confidence in managing multiple priorities and working with diverse stakeholders
- A genuine interest in working within a church setting and supporting its values and community
- Experience with CRM or church management systems (e.g., ChurchSuite) is desirable
What you'll get in return
Our client is offering a competitive salary of £35,000 - £40,000, depending on experience, for an outstanding candidate. This is a
full-time, on-site role based in central Cambridge, offering the chance to work in a dynamic and purpose-driven environment.Please note that on-site parking is not available, so this position would ideally suit someone local or with easy access to public transport.In addition to a rewarding role, the successful candidate will benefit from a generous benefits package, including 35 days of annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays).
