Position Summary
As a result of company growth, we are seeking an experienced Operations Director to establish Operations as a new department encompassing our administrative, legal, customer support, quality control and inspection services delivery. You will build teams from scratch, establish processes, shape strategy, and create lasting relationships. The role requires previous experience in establishing manufacturing procedures and building and managing growing teams, along with engineering expertise in vision / imaging systems or robotics.
What you’ll do
Work alongside the CEO, senior leadership and HR to introduce and build a new Operations department, setting up the existing administrative function and the new Inspection Services arm from scratch with best‑in‑class processes, systems and personnel.
Build and develop our production facilities across our Oxford and Cambridge sites.
Review and introduce robust quality control processes to maintain high standards, including ISO certifications.
Build a unified customer support function.
Support the rollout of our selected ERP system.
Manage internal teams across multiple departments predominantly in the UK whilst working closely with cross‑functional teams across the UK, Saudi Arabia and the US.
Review and manage suppliers ensuring cost, quality and time standards are met.
What you’ll bring
Demonstrable experience as an Operations Director or equivalent, ideally from a growing organisation focused on imaging / vision systems or drones/robotics.
Proven track record in strategic planning, process improvement and team leadership.
Confidence in establishing manufacturing and quality processes in line with ISO standards.
Ability to grow teams from scratch, creating a positive and empowering work culture.
Excellent communication skills to support and develop your teams and liaise with suppliers and customers.
Experience in establishing customer success teams.
Preferred Skills
Experience with specific imaging systems, drones/UAV payloads or other camera/electro‑optical products.
Experience rolling out new ERP systems across functions.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Experience managing supply chain and logistics.
