We are excited to be supporting a well-established abattoir based in Pontefract that is currently looking to recruit a Payroll Administrator. Since the late 1990s, our client has built a strong reputation for delivering exceptional product quality, continuous innovation, and industry-leading animal welfare standards.
With a workforce of over 800 employees, you will be joining a well-established organisation that is continuing to invest in and grow its finance team into 2026. They are looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Administrator who will take ownership of the accurate and timely processing of weekly and monthly payroll.
This is a fast-paced, hands-on role requiring strong payroll knowledge and excellent attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities Include
Process weekly and monthly payroll accurately and on time
Administer payroll deductions including childcare vouchers, CSA, and attachments of earnings
Process statutory payments and manage pension schemes
Act as the main point of contact for payroll queries
Produce scheduled and ad-hoc payroll reports for the finance team
Maintain accurate payroll records and issue payroll documentation
Ensure payroll compliance with current legislation and best practice
Create and maintain SOPs for payroll processes
Identify and implement payroll process improvements
Maintain electronic payroll files and records
Log sickness absence
Support the finance team with additional administrative duties as required
About You
Proven experience in payroll processing
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Confident handling payroll queries and discrepancies
Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Bonus Points
Experience with Mitrefinch or Advanced systems (desirable)
Advanced payroll knowledge (desirable)
